Food Addiction and Eating Disorders Therapist

The Beacon Program (Beacon by MC) offers individual and group solutions to overcome emotional eating, food addiction, and binge-eating. Created by Molly Carmel, Beacon’s founder, the Beacon by MC method synthesizes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), nutritional knowledge and other therapeutic modalities to help clients heal their relationship with food, dieting and themselves. We’re changing the game in the world of addictions and eating disorders, and truly empowering people everywhere to find true nourishment — emotionally, physically and spiritually.

We’re excited to be expanding our rapidly growing organization and we’re looking to hire dynamic, passionate and self-motivated full-time or part-time Food Addiction and Eating Disorders Therapists to join our team. As a Beacon by MC Therapist, you must be licensed in the state of NY or working on your NY state licensure. You’ll be responsible for working directly with amazing clients in both individual and group settings, largely via telehealth services.

At Beacon, we utilize many of the theories and practices of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), so experience with the model is highly preferred (we will provide training), as is experience in addictions and/or eating disorders. Working at the Beacon Program offers a tremendous opportunity for professional growth as a therapist in a warm, fun, and friendly work environment, with flexibility in scheduling and lots of supervision.

As part of our treatment team, you will:

  • Work directly with individual clients to create personalized treatment plans to fit individual and unique needs
  • Monitor progress and collaborate with supervisor and clients to re-evaluate treatment and goals, when necessary
  • Meet with new, prospective clients and perform consultations, offering an overview of clinical services and what to expect
  • Perform initial intake assessments for new clients
  • Receive clinical training in DBT and other therapeutic modalities from Beacon’s founder, Molly Carmel as well as other Beacon clinicians
  • Participate in individual and group supervision on a weekly basis
  • Create and develop discharge plans for individual clients, when necessary

  • Must currently have a NY State license or be in the midst of working to obtain your NY State licensure (MSW or MHC)
  • Ability to work with technology in a start-up culture
  • Ability to work remotely and independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
  • Experience with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), addiction and eating disorders a BIG plus
