Breaking Up With Sugar By My 40th Birthday ft. Marshall Malone

Molly sits down with a listener of the podcast to talk about his inspiring road to recovery as it’s been unfolding so far.

Marshall Malone is on the fourth day of his Breaking Up With Sugar journey. Marshall, a digital marketing expert, recently got in touch with Molly, and he’s here today to talk about the toughest part about breaking up with any addiction: getting through those first few days.

In this episode, Marshall discusses his fears and concerns, as well as his hopes and intentions, as he soldiers on for the next 66 days—to completely leave behind his food addiction by his 40th birthday!

Episode Quotes

  • “It really threatens people’s relationship with food when we make these big changes.” – Molly Carmel
  • “I’m not pressuring myself too much because that’s what has ultimately led to my failures.” – Marshall Malone

Key Highlights

  • Nobody likes their truth being threatened. When we (or especially other people) try to change our relationship with food, we will hesitate or outright deny that we have a problem;
  • We need to create a food plan that allows us to have grace and forgive ourselves when we make mistakes. We need to accept that life gets in the way sometimes, and that’s okay as long as we always pick ourselves back up;
  • Instead of pushing yourself too hard at the start of your journey, commit to the small wins. The best food plan is a sustainable plan!
